A place
to be
witnessed
Life doesn't always ask to be fixed.
Sometimes it asks to be witnessed.
Throughout history, women have gathered to share stories, grieve, celebrate, seek guidance, and mark life’s transitions. These moments of connection have long helped us make meaning of experiences that cannot be solved through logic alone. Although our lives look different today, those human needs remain.
My philosophy
I believe that human beings are inherently oriented toward growth, connection, and purpose.
When life becomes overwhelming or we feel stuck, it is often not because something is “wrong” with us, but because we've experienced loss, disconnection, relational wounds, major life transitions, or simply because we've had too little space or support to process what we’ve lived through.
I don’t believe there is one path to healing, nor that one practitioner or one modality holds all the answers.
Instead, I believe that wellbeing is supported through many interconnected relationships—with ourselves, with others, with creativity, with nature, with meaningful practices, and with communities that allow us to feel seen and understood.
My role is not to fix or have the answers. It is to walk alongside you with curiosity, steadiness, and respect as you deepen your relationship with yourself.

What we might explore together
Every woman’s path is unique.
Together, we’ll follow what feels most meaningful to you, at a pace that respects your goals and your lived experience.

WOMANHOOD
Exploring the psychological, relational, and embodied experience of womanhood.

THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Nervous system education and practices to better understand your body's responses and cultivate more access to regulation.

THERAPEUTIC ARTS
Art-making, creativity, and ritual as pathways for expression, reflection, and meaning-making.
CONVERSATION
Conversation, reflective inquiry, and collaborative exploration of what matters most to you.

RELATIONSHIPS
Exploring attachment, communication, boundaries, and patterns of relating.

My approach
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to women’s lived experience. I recognize that a woman’s psychological, physiological, relational, and developmental experiences are deeply interconnected and continue to evolve across different seasons of life. This perspective shapes the way I listen, the questions I ask, and the space I strive to create.
My work is psychedelic-informed and draws from psychology, nervous system science, therapeutic arts, depth-oriented reflection, and longstanding human traditions of storytelling, creativity, ritual, and community. I view these not as separate disciplines, but as complementary ways of helping women understand themselves more holistically, process life experiences, and reconnect with their own innate wisdom.
My work with psychedelics has profoundly shaped the way I approach healing. More than anything, it has reinforced my belief that while profound experiences can be catalysts for change, it is through relationship, community, and ongoing supportive practices that those experiences are woven into our lives.
Above all, I strive to offer a calm, respectful presence where you can explore your experiences without pressure to perform, explain everything perfectly, or arrive with the “right” answers.
Professional background
I’m Melissa Vrouvides, founder of Aphrodite Health, and a registered Naturotherapist with the Academy of Naturopaths & Naturotherapists of Canada (ACNN).
My work continues to be shaped by formal education, ongoing supervision, mentorship, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Before I began formal training, I spent nearly two decades working in the restaurant industry, which I've come to believe was some of the best real-world psychology training I could have received.
Over the years, that path expanded to include co-designing and facilitating a day program for older adults living with early-stage dementia, contributing editorially to Women on Psychedelics and Psychedelics Today, and facilitating women’s circles, retreats, workshops, and one-on-one support through Aphrodite Health.
Some of the training that has informed my work includes:
-
Registered Naturotherapist - Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists of Canada
-
Therapeutic Arts Practitioner (In progress) - Canadian International Institute for Art Therapy
-
Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate - The Embody Lab
-
Somatic Psychedelic Facilitation Certificate - The Embody Lab
-
Integrative Psychedelic Studies - Specialization: Somatics & Trauma - Vital Training
Please note:
Naturotherapy is a complementary wellness service.
My practice is educational and supportive in nature and is not psychotherapy, psychological treatment, or medical care. I do not diagnose or treat mental disorders or provide medical advice.
Receipts for naturotherapy services are available. Reimbursement available with most group insurance plans.
